About Me...

I often refer to myself as a Jen of all Trades. I am a visual communicator who loves to work with my hands and experiment with different mediums (acrylic, pastel, glue, wood, etc.). I have wanted to illustrate children's books ever since I discovered that I could communicate emotional messages through images. My debut book, "My Day... A Long Distance Lullaby", combines multimedia illustration with songwriting. I am a folk musician in style but also in ethos. My music follows the folk tradition of social activism through song. I believe that adults should not shy away from addressing the difficult issues that children face in their daily lives. My work seeks to bridge the gap between adult and youth understandings of complex and difficult emotions. I also seek to bridge the gaps between different and disparate communities in my work by creating emotionally rich stories that resonate across multiple boundaries.
